Ever feel like your business is evolving faster than your branding can keep up? Maybe you’ve added new offers, new audiences, or just plain outgrown the name you started with. That’s exactly where I’ve found myself lately—and today’s episode is a little bit different.
This is a goodbye—but not to the podcast. It’s a goodbye to the eCommerce Made Easy name, and a warm hello to what’s coming next: a rebrand I’ve been quietly working on behind the scenes.
If you’ve ever tuned in for website tips, conversion strategy, SEO guidance, or simply to feel a little less overwhelmed by all things tech—you’re going to love where we’re headed next. In this episode, I’ll walk you through why the change is happening, what’s staying the same, what’s getting even better, and how it all benefits you.
Let’s Recap: A Big Update for eCommerce Made Easy & What It Means for You
From eCommerce Roots to a Broader Mission
When I launched this podcast over two years ago, the name eCommerce Made Easy perfectly captured my mission. With more than two decades in eCommerce development, I wanted to create a space where online store owners could learn how to navigate the technical aspects of their business without feeling overwhelmed. The show was designed specifically for my eCommerce clients, breaking down complex tech concepts into actionable strategies they could implement right away.
Listening to the Audience Sparked a Shift
But business evolution is inevitable when you’re truly listening to your audience. What began as content primarily for online store owners gradually expanded as I noticed something interesting: more and more listeners weren’t traditional e-commerce sellers.
Instead, they were:
- Course creators building digital product empires
- Coaches running service-based businesses
- Digital service providers launching subscription models
- Personal brands monetizing their expertise across multiple channels
While their business models varied, they shared common challenges—particularly how to make their websites work harder as sales tools.
When the Name No Longer Fits
This shifting listener base led to an important realization: the name eCommerce Made Easy no longer fully reflected what the podcast had grown into.
Technically, these businesses do conduct commerce electronically, but the term “eCommerce” has become strongly associated with product-based businesses that ship physical items. As a result, potential listeners who could benefit from the show’s strategies weren’t tuning in—because they didn’t see themselves in the title.
It was time for the branding to catch up with the reality.
Introducing: Smarter Online Business
The new name – Smarter Online Business – better reflects our expanded mission: to help all types of digital entrepreneurs build sustainable, strategic online businesses that support their lives rather than drain them.
This rebrand doesn’t change what works. It simply communicates the value we already provide in a way that invites more people in. You can still expect:
- Website strategies that convert
- SEO guidance that doesn’t require a data science degree
- Conversion optimization techniques that actually work
- Real interviews with business owners sharing actionable insights
The only change? We’re now explicitly welcoming all online business models into our community.
A Reflection of My Own Business Growth
This transition mirrors my own business journey. As my client base has diversified beyond just eCommerce, so has my expertise in supporting a wide range of business models.
What hasn’t changed is my core belief:
Your website should be your hardest-working sales tool—not just a digital brochure or technical headache.
Whether you’re selling physical products, digital downloads, services, courses, or a mix of all of the above, the fundamentals of an effective online presence remain the same.
Smarter Online Business reflects this truth—and opens the door even wider for online entrepreneurs like you.
